Caden rolled over today!

Caden figured out how to roll over from his back to his belly today. Once he figured it out, he hasn't stopped! Jane and Annie came into town today and were able to see Caden rolling over first hand. What a Big Boy!!! Posted by Picasa

Blog update

Hi guys!

Here we are at the hospital, and I'm sure you can tell that we are just zipping through labor since I have the time and concentration to read and post to the blog.

Just wanted to let you know that we have duplicated our Macaliks Abroad blog on Yahoo! 360. We will continue to update the Macaliks Abroad on Blogger, but we're waiting for Rob to finish his Russia posting there first before posting anything else. Sooooooo...we can be found at www.360.yahoo.com/m_macalik . You might bookmark it there. We have some photo albums up from our trip, and the blog there is updated throughlast night when we arrived at the hospital to be prepped for induction since I am 10 days overdue. Whew.

We'll keep you posted. :)

Love,
Mel

P.S. I think our family is fabulous. Just thought I'd share....

Sorry

I'm sorry. If I would have known how much I would upset everyone, I would have posted my name. Of course, I know what kind of person you are Thad. I really was just making a joke. Reading everything that was written made me cry. Please try and not be so mean when responding to this. Cindy

Wayne - you have a digital camera with you in Prague right now, correct? How about snapping some pictures of the little momma before she dominos and posting them on the blog? Hadn't seen Melissa in a while and I am sure she is in rare form right now:-) Don't tell her what you are doing though - she might not allow it.

Uncle Jerry...

Uncle Wayne,
Uncle Jerry and I hunted together the whole time, daily after school, while I was up in Junction with Grandma. He was my first real hunting partner. He always told me how he would really enjoy the chance to go on a bear hunt where some crazed slobbering 500lb bear would charge him, forcing him to unloaded his gun into it as raced towards him and right before it's deadly attack would fall dead at his feet. I can vividly recall sitting with him while he would tell me that story and thinking to myself, what a brave man. Many of those type of stories took place on the way from school to the ranch for the evening hunt. I would then be forced to sit in a blind all alone in the middle of the woods with my mind racing in anticipation of the bear attack that never came. Many hours of good hunting was spent peering out the back door of the slab-blind down into the dark gully that ran behind it, searching for the slightest movement which would indicate my impending death. Thank God the bear never came.

As I sat on my stand in Maine, I can't tell you how many memories of uncle Jerry I had about that hunting season we spent together. I know he was with me when I took my bear. I'm just as sure that he had a lot to do with how wonderful the whole experience was.

Response to Success in Maine Inquiry

I’ve decided that rather than be a steward of the animals who invests his own time, money and entire being to the betterment of animals and protection of their natural environment, by investing in wildlife friendly organizations such as Texas Wildlife Association, Ducks Unlimited, or by purchasing the most expensive hunting license (in several states), federal duck stamp, public hunting pass, San Antonio metro area park pass (even though I am unable to fully utilize any of them) which in one form or fashion go towards the funding, maintenance, creation and protection of our natural resources and aside from the fact that I invest thousands into my own outfitting service, which by its feeding program, strict rules enforcement on game suitable for harvest and mere existence offers sanctuary for multitudes of wild organism, by making it marketable to maintain the family property in a natural state for everyone to enjoy rather than clear cut it in order to build family dwellings or a shopping center; I THINK THAT I AM NOW GOING TO TRAVEL THE COUNTRYSIDE KILLING AND SCALPING EVERY FURRY ANIMAL I COME ACROSS AND IF IT DOESN’T HAVE FUR I’M JUST GOING TO KILL IT AND BATHE IN IT’S BLOOD.
The question obviously comes from someone who does not know who I am or what I stand for. Next time someone wants to question my motives in this regard please feel free to call me (210-945-4496) and by all means don’t do it anonymously.

Cindy's Family

Josh is working hard at work. Right now he is surveying a rock blasting mine in Marble Falls. He works for about 12 hours with just the light of high power flash lights and the lights from the truck. He says that when he comes out, its worse than having your eyes dilated. He comes home tired, so I try to have a hot dinner waiting. He only has to be there for about a week or so, four weeks out of the year. He gets paid a lot more while he is doing this job, which is good for us. When he gets home, he still makes time to play with the kids and helps get them ready for bed.
I am 6 months pregnant, again, with a little girl. Her name is Jessica Lynn Zike. She is due December 21, the day before Katharine's birthday. Noah goes to Holy Family Catholic School. He is in Pre-k, and loves going. He never complains about having to get up and get dressed. He even tells me everything he did at school. Before it was always, "I don't know!" David can't wait to go to school. He loves to write in his work book. He does it everyday. He also is very helpful with his sister. Katharine is 20 months old, and already helps me with the dishes. She unloads the dishwasher and hands the dishes to me. She is very cute and smart. She is learning to go potty now. It is her third day and she already just goes by herself. Yesterday, she even went number 2 all by herself. I am so proud. Cindy

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Andrew!!!!

For Melissa

I just wanted to give you some tips for your upcoming delivery. Try to have your baby without any medicine, because your delivery won't take very long if your body has all functions working normally. I don't know if that is a proven medical statement, but I do know that it only took 5 hours for all three of mine, Connie took only 1 hour, Carrie took 3 to 4 hours, and Sam took only 3 or 4 hours (Correct if I'm wrong, Sam). You will feel better afterwards, and you will be able to get up and move around. There is one thing that Rob needs to know, have something ready to vomit in just in case. I think it is the body's nature pain reliever, again not a proven medical statement, just something I know from experience. Remember to breath deep and try to relax during contractions. Once you get to about a 7, they will come continuously. After you get to about 7, it goes quick. That is also about the time you will ask for something, but hold out because it should go quick. There is a point in which you have a very strong desire to push, tell your nurse because she should check, and it should be very close. I hope that you read this in time before the little comes. I hope that my advice will be helpful to you. Happy pushing!!!:)

Lots of Love, Cindy

Dove Hunting Success!

Yup the birddogs found it. It's the first, but certainly not the last dead dove of the season.

Quick update!!!

Hi everyone,
Hope all is going good. We've made it through the first month of school without too much drama. Jayden is so EXCITED to go to school, I pull up at the front of the school and she's ready to jump out before I even stop. "I love you, see you after school" are her words and out the door she goes. Eldon on the other hand somedays needs a little push in the mornings and somedays a kick out of the van, no just kidding. He goes, but isn't as thrilled about it as Jayden.
He had his first Social Studies project over the weekend and he did pretty good, he had to make a map of his community and write a paper, it looked pretty good. He hasn't gotten a grade yet, so we're having to wait, we hope he gets a good one. We have open house next week and we'll get to see all the fun stuff they've been doing in class and see how they've been behaving, which so far has been nothing but BIG SMILES and E's.
Ashton's doing good, fighting a bad cold but getting better, not sure where he got it from. He's our booggie boy, his nose just doesn't seem to stop. Yesterday he just wasn't himself and today he's more of the Ashton we all know and love, still a little on the "Hold Me" side but getting more back to the active and silly side.
Well got to go,
LOVE TO ALL,
Margaret
Hello everyone. I can't say much right now, because Katharine is needed my attention. I just wanted to let everyone know that I made it here, and that a made a few comments. I'll write about how we are doing later.
Love, Cindy
